APPELLATE EXPERIENCE

2008 to present, Attorney at Law, Saratoga Springs and Glens Falls: Practice devoted to civil and criminal appeals and legal research and writing services.  Clients include trial attorneys and law firms throughout the state.

Center for Appellate Litigation, Manhattan, 1998 to 2002: At nonprofit organization, handled criminal appeals in the Appellate Division, First Department and N.Y. Court of Appeals and wrote amicus briefs for statewide groups.

Solo Practitioner, Saratoga Springs, 1993 to 1998: Handled a broad range of appeals.  Served on assigned counsel panels for the Appellate Division, Third Department and U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit.

Assistant Attorney General, State Dept. of Law, Appeals & Opinions Bureau, Albany, 1990 to 1993: Handled appeals on behalf of the state in all Appellate Divisions, N.Y. Court of Appeals, U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit, and U.S. Supreme Court.  Wrote amicus briefs for State agencies.

Law Clerk, Appellate Division, Third Department, Albany, 1988 to 1989:  Wrote bench memos on wide range of civil and criminal appeals.

OTHER EXPERIENCE

• Director of Pro Bono Affairs, New York State Bar Association, Albany, 2002 to 2007: Coordinated access to justice initiatives.  Handled several pro bono appeals.  Appointed to Second Circuit Pro Bono Panel.
• Corporate Public Relations, 1976 to 1984: Served as publications editor at The Gillette Company in Boston and the Federal Reserve Bank in Chicago.

• Adjunct Professor, Appellate Practice, Albany Law School, 2008 to 2011.
• Trainer at numerous CLEs on appeals, including for the Third Department, the State Bar, and local bars.
• Admitted in New York State, U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit, and U.S. Supreme Court.
